Stephanie Jackson is a 21-year-old, 4th year student at the University of Georgia. She will graduate in December with degrees in English (with an Area of Emphasis in Medieval Literature) and Journalism-Newspapers.
During her years at UGA, the Birmingham, Al. native has worked to bring Stand Up!, a progressive student-run paper she helped found, to the conservative Athens community. She has also worked on the editorial board of UGAzine, as a social media intern at Blurt magazine and as a writer for Athens Exchange. Currently, she is working on an editorial series for campus newspaper the Red and Black detailing social taboos and how to overcome them.
She is especially interested in social change, progressive lifestyles and the changing face of the media. Her immediate goal is to find a job outside of her comfort area where she can grow and learn while adding her unique view and skills to a solid newspaper team. Her ultimate goal is to work on documenting the lives of those living to change social taboos.
Stephanie lives in Athens, Ga. where she enjoys stressful school and wonderful friends. She and her long-term boyfriend Mehraz have a spoiled princess of a dog, Roxanne, and a curmudgeonly bunny named Fiver. She has a beautiful goddaughter named Laylah, and is expecting another godchild this March.
She is currently learning about blogging, html, etc. in her Writing for the Web class.
